Service Description

Fertility journey is not one people are searching for, yet 17% of the population will find itself on that path. We know of this path from the jewish stories so central to the biblical narrative and following jewish sources. This path is a strong journey, often unseen by others yet so central to those waking it. This series offers a space to connect with our heritage and be supported by the stories we were given by our tradition to help us navigate the turbulence of the journey. Classes will meet every other week around the time of the high holidays - time of renewal, time of prayer, time of depth of emotions - for good or bad. We will have four classes- Class 1: I am a full woman Out mothers, were not mothers for a good amount of their life. How did they live their non-mom life? We will look at how our matriarchs (Sarah, Rivka, Rachel, Hannah) dealt with fertility struggles such as self doubt and loss of control. Using creative writing practices we will explore our own ways of dealing with the struggles fertility brings and the way we can come back to ourself. Class 2: Coming back to strength throughout the journey We will explore Jewish teaching about connecting with nature, planting, and birthing creative projects to maintain our power during liminal times. Class 3: Revealing not revealing Dealing with the secrecy, loneliness, and emotional intensity of fertility treatments. In this class we will ask how to try and build our support network - figuring out for ourselves - who to call and what to ask for. Class 4: Prayer Prayer is a strong place to go to in this time. We will close our time together with a creative writing practice of writing a prayer.
